The Board of Directors agreed that the ICCM should be a signatory of an open letter to the DWP Secretary of State calling for the Funeral Expenses Payment to be increased immediately from £1000.00 to at least £1725.00, and linked to inflation going forward. The Government needs to act now to help people grieve without the worry of taking on a large debt to pay for a funeral.
